  • “SHAKER”

    -

Following 2016’s “AFTERPARTY”, Pavel Shappo returned for a second major solo exhibition; a new collection of over 30 large canvases, full of swirling movement, energy, rich colours and textures, intriguing and often mischievous tales…the uninhibited and unapologetic joie de vivre that permeates so much of his work.

SHAKER: The bartender took a shaker and began to fill its tight chrome body with alcohols of all colours and consistencies. A few minutes later, he began to shake his metal assistant elastically to the rhythm and beat of the voluptuous funk that was booming from the speakers. Sometimes he listened to something in it, sometimes it told him something. It seemed that the shaker was a voodoo body, into which the shaman instills a soul… Finally, the bartender poured out a life-affirming mixture, shimmering with mother-of-pearl, ultramarine and magic. The glasses with the spilled cocktail sucked in, like small funnels, night tropical stars, flying planes, the kisses of strangers, the ocean breeze, light memories of a sun-drenched morning…

I barely touched the offered nectar with my lips. And the lips themselves immediately whispered:

    “What a gentle poison…”
