    -

In the Year of Ecology in Russia, Art-centre Exposed, in association with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), presented a major photo project, “AFRICA. In-and-Out.”

The exhibition combined the perspectives of two photographers of the Bushveld – a unique subtropical woodland eco-region of Southern Africa, which is home to a huge variety of mammals, birds, reptiles, trees, shrubs and grasses. Two limited edition hardback photo albums were also produced to complement the exhibition.

“AFRICA. In” is the view of Riaan Fourie, a highly skilled and experienced South African field guide and ranger who has lived and worked in the Bushveld for the past twenty years. Constant contact with wildlife, a deep connection with his environment, and a highly developed and skilled photographic eye have enabled him to capture some of the most intimate, unusual and striking images of this extraordinary part of our planet.

“AFRICA. Out” is the view of professional Russian photographer Olga Konovalova. In 2016 and 2017, she travelled through the amazing lands of the Bushveld and fell in love with the beauty and tranquility of this region. The serenity, grace and ‘cruelty’ of the animals and birds that live there are all reflected in her works. Olga, together with the Exposed Creative Group, also prepared a slide movie to accompany the exhibition, and she subsequently returned to the Bushveld for a further visit in 2018.
