AFRICA. CULTURAL CODE
Art-centre Exposed took part in the large-scale exhibition “Africa. Cultural Code”, held at the ART-SPACE gallery in the very heart of Moscow from October 25 to November 17, 2024.
The exhibition features works by several artists united by their interest in the African continent and its culture.
John Kenny’s striking artistic portraits illuminate a range of tribal societies that are justly proud of their traditions and cultural heritage.
In Jean Doyle’s sculptures, cast in silicon bronze, images of Africa are combined with the influence of European culture, impressing viewers with both their attention to detail and their vividness.
Touré Yakouba is a sculptor who lives and works in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, the “land of honest people.” He works with bronze, using a technique passed down in his family from generation to generation.
Barry Cawston, an award-winning photographer from the West of England who has travelled extensively across Europe, America, Africa, and Asia, often challenges our expectations of photography. His fascination with form, pattern, colour, and texture, taken together, can give his works an almost poetic quality, as though he has managed to merge reality and imagination.
Rian Fourie is a highly qualified and experienced FGASA professional field guide and tracker. His constant presence in nature, keen eye, and love of photography have allowed him to capture moments that often remain hidden from visitors.
During her first safari trip in 2016, Russian photographer Olga Konovalova encountered the grandeur, strength, and energy of the South African Bushveld. Olga immediately fell in love with this place and began capturing unique and breathtaking moments from the lives of its inhabitants.
Exhibition opening hours:
