Olga Abramova is a professional pastel artist, teacher of drawing, co-founder and, since 2018, President of the National Pastel Society in Russia. Olga has Master Circle status with the International Association of Pastel Societies and she is a member of the Pastel Societies of America, Turkey, and Italy, and of the International Art Foundation (IAF).
She chooses soft pastel as the main medium for her work, combining it with acrylic, charcoal, gouache and other materials. The main idea of her paintings is the retention of human sensory experience in these accelerating times. She is immersed in meditation-like scenes where time is present. Time reflects on everyday objects and light spots and turns into compositions, which create a new reality, quickly changing and disappearing. She is looking for moments of quiet contemplativeness, which is why most of her paintings are made in a soft colour range, which catches the viewers, leaving them alone with their mood.
Olga’s paintings have won numerous awards worldwide and are frequently exhibited at Russian and international art shows in joint and personal projects. She has taken part in over 50 exhibitions all over the world, and her paintings are held in private collections within Russia, Europe, USA, Taiwan; and in museum collections in China and Russia. Her book “Pastel” was released in Russia by publishing house EKSMO in 2020, while her interviews and paintings have been published in the Pastel Journal (USA), and the Pratique des Arts (France).
